Pictures from barangay Laoag, Cabangan, Zambales

The gate to the barangay.
The gate to the barangay.
This is the entrance to the barangay Laoag, where we have our property. The barangay is a small area in the district (town?) of Cabangan. It has a president, a captain and a board with members whos responsibility it is to see that everything is in order with schooling, roadlights and so forth.
Exactly how everything works, I do not know, but they have democratic elections.
Jeanette's main building is built in concrete, with the first floor in concrete and bamboo. The ground floor has three rooms, one big apartment and two smaller rooms. They need some work, but the first floor is ready. You have gas oven, freezer, toilet and shower.
There is a big and wide terrace around three sides of the house. It is there we spend all our time during the day in the house when we are not sleeping or making food.
We play cards, read or just sit there enjoying ourselves with some snacks and something good in the glass (or bottle).

Solnedgang, Sunset
A beautiful sunset seen from the terrace.
We experinced some incredible afternoons and evenings when we were there in Desember and January. The sunsets were something else. Just look at the picture further down the page. It could become very hot in the afternoon, but thankfully this coastal area is blessed with a cool breeze. If the breeze stayed away, well, we had a gooood sweat!!
We usually dragged the chairs down to the beach, because we could't lie in the sun for long before having a dip in the water. The water is pleasantly cool, so a few minutes in it, we were ready for a new stretch in the sun, for those who likes that. Jara, Aries and Trude. Badeliv, beachlife

Beautiful afternoon...right???
Beautiful afternoon...right???
As mentioned, the afternoons had some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. After we discovered this was the norm, we got fed up taking pictures of it.
We just sat down enjoying it with a cold San Miguel beer or a cold soda.
This is called a nipahut. These are popular everywhere in the Philippines. People rent them for the day. They bring food and drink, and enjoy themselves BBQ'ing, swimming and playing on the beach. Nipa hut.
